England v New Zealand: Stoneman & Vince keep Test spots, Ballance dropped James Vince and Mark Stoneman have retained their places in England's Test squad for the tour of New Zealand, despite their struggles with the bat in the 4-0 Ashes defeat by Australia.  Batsman Gary Ballance, bowler Jake Ball and all-rounder Tom Curran have been dropped for the two-Test tour in March. There is a first Test call-up for 24-year-old batsman Liam Livingstone, who will captain Lancashire this year. Bowler Mark Wood is also in the 16-man squad, alongside Ben Stokes.     Is cricket the hardest sport to win away from home?     England 'scared' to produce real pace, says West Indies legend Holding All-rounder Stokes, 26, was arrested in September on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm following an incident in Bristol. Fast bowler Jason Ralston was out to make an impression in his first game for the Australia Under 19s, and he certainly managed to do that. Three wickets on debut - plus snapping the bat of the opposition captain in his first ball at the crease - has- Ralston in the frame for Australia’s 2018 Under 19 Cricket World Cup opener against India in Tauranga on Sunday. The 18-year-old right-armer claimed two early wickets in Wednesday’s warm-up match as Sri Lanka slumped to 6-64, and finished with figures of 3-38 as Australia dismissed the Sri Lankans for 198 in reply to 7-251 in Christchurch. “It was unreal, a great start for the boys,” Ralston said. “We obviously still have some things to work on, but definitely a great start, a win against Sri Lanka and pretty convincing at that. “I went out there and opened the bowling with Xavier Bartlett, we had a really good partnership up front. “Putting on the jersey this morning was an unreal feeling…. playing for your country is just amazing. In a big-stage reprisal of so many boyhood backyard matches, brothers Shaun and Mitchell Marsh took the sword to a dispirited England late today as the final Magellan Ashes Test slipped further from the tourists' grasp. After Usman Khawaja dominated the first two sessions to post his maiden Ashes century and come within an elegant boundary of his highest Test score, the brothers Marsh took to a tiring England attack in a brutal fifth-wicket stand that will resume tomorrow having already yielded 104. At a rate hitherto unseen in this match, the siblings' century stand arriving from 151 balls as older brother Shaun ended the day within two runs of his second hundred of the series and the pair relived their days playing pretend Ashes Tests on their family's lawn tennis court in Perth. As a consequence, Australia will head into day four on which Sydney temperatures are forecast to climb past 40C at 4-479 with a lead of 133 and England's bowlers already having spent 10 hou...

The Bangladesh national cricket team (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় ক্রিকেট দল), nicknamed The Tigers, represents Bangladesh in international cricket. It is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Bangladesh is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test and One Day International (ODI) status. It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India in Dhaka, becoming the tenth Test-playing nation. Bangladesh's first official foray into international cricket came in the 1979 ICC Trophy in England. On 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played its first ODI match, against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. For a long time, football was the most popular sport in Bangladesh, but cricket gradually became very popular – particularly in urban areas – and by the late 1990s had surpassed football. Bangladesh made its full debut in international cricket in the 1986 Asia Cup. In 1997, Bangladesh won the ICC Trophy in Malaysia and thus qualified for its first Cricket World C...

Hazlewood got the big wicket of Alastair Cook. © Getty Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood's late strikes helped Australia dent England's steady start on the opening day of the fifth and final Test, at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday (January 5). Opting to bat, despite overcast skies, Joe Root's England posted 122 for the loss of top-three wickets in an extended three-hour post-Lunch session to make up for the loss of overs early in the day. Alastair Cook was greeted with a beautiful inswinging yorker by the returning Mitchell Starc while Mark Stoneman was beaten with a fuller one outside off stump by Josh Hazlewood on his very first ball of the morning. But runs started to flow once the sun broke through. While his senior partner seemed tad edgy at the start - despite notching up a double ton in just the previous innings - it was Stoneman who set the tone early on with a run-a-ball 24, laced with four beautiful boundaries. Stoneman's joys were short-lived though wi...
